In my experience, most problems in life have to do with communication, either because the message was not transmitted clearly and accurately or because it was not received correctly. As some of you know, I am a manager for a large government organization. In my line of work, there are plenty of examples of both types of communication problems. Some of them result in situations that could be seen as funny, except by the ones suffering the consequences, of course.
Doing unnecesary work due to someone else's failure to communicate is irritating. Doing it due to your own failure to communicate is frustrating. That's the reason I am an advocate of reading the instructions first, and asking questions when in doubt. Life is too short to spend it sculpting the wrong type of statue.
