Mabel appears in Midtoon

The Midtoon Herald, January 16, 2009

Mabel Campos, Formerly Mabel Snyders, is the second wife of John Campos. They met during a Midtoon College Symposium on legal aspects of biology, where John Campos was conducting a presentation. Always a weakling for babies, Mabel offered to take care of the rambunctious two year old Javier, who had driven his caretaker to the edge of insanity and had to accompany his father to the symposium.

"I think I have always admired the fatherly types," she admits. "John was so clueless and defenseless being a single father that I think my nurturing side came up. It was all so easy after that and we were married two years later."

Mabel's Family, the Snyders, did not agree with the idea at first. "They disliked the fact that John is several years older than me," said Mabel when pressed for an answer. "But after getting to know him during the past 4 and a half years, they dislike him even more."

Mabel admits that helping raise Javier has been "hectic and stressful, but also full of rewards. Javier is sweeter than pie." She is also stepmother of Erik. "Erik is older," she says. "He always calls me Mabel. Javier, on the other hand, calls me mom sometimes. Not all the time, but sometimes."

"It was a little awkward at first", she adds. "Being a stepmother to a boy of Erik's age, who is just one year younger than my little sister, ca be a little unnerving, but he is a good boy, deep inside, and we have adjusted to our roles pretty well."

Does Mabel have any regrets?

"Well, I wish I could have finished my College degree, but that is something we have had to put on hold for a little bit. I hope to go back to college soon. hopefully before erik does."

You have two years, Ms. Campos.
